The artist I chose is Kwakwaka’wakw artist Agnes Seaweed Wisden. Agnes creates Contemporary and Traditional North West Coast Art. (she’s also my aunt)
Agnes grew up in alert bay B.C as a Kwakwaka’wakw and British woman. Agnes’s traditional Kwakwaka’wakw is llilawikw. her traditional name was given to her though her peoples potlatch system, Agnes’s name meaning “Gatherer of the people”
